Welcome To Murewa

Murewa is an Agrarian District covering 567 382 hectares of land located in Mashonaland East Province where it shares boundaries with Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe on the North boundary, Marondera on the Southern boundary, Mutoko to the South-East boundary with Goromonzi and Chaminuka bordering to the North-West boundary. The District is located 86 kilometres North-East of Harare the Capital City, along Harare-Nyamapanda road. It is also accessible 20 km from Marondera Town traversing into Macheke on the Southern boundary. Horticulture, agriculture cropping and animal husbandry constitutes more than 55% of all Economic Activities in the District.

The other source of livelihood in the District is wholesale, retail trade and services. Manufacturing and value addition is still at its infancy. Key to this pillar is artisanal work, metal fabrication and food processing. The total population for the Council area as per 2022 Census is stands at 205,432 (Males 97,564, Females 107,878). The Council has 30 administrative wards, 30 elected councillors, 9 Women’s Quota system Councillors and 3 Town Board Members totalling 42 policymakers. The Executive has 7 Senior Managerial Employees, 11 Middle level managerial employees, 8 Supervisory level employees, and 79 operational and support staff giving a total establishment of 105 employees.
