About Murewa RDC
Murewa Rural District Council is established as a quasi-governmental body under the constitution of the Republic of Zimbabwe under the RDC Act (Chapter 29:13). The legislature is comprised of forty -two (42) Policymakers (39 Councillors and 3 Town Board Members) for the Rural District Council and the Town Board. The Executive has a total establishment of one hundred and twenty (120) staff members – the Chief Executive Officer, six (6) Heads of Departments (HODs) eleven (11) Assistant Executive Officers/ Deputy Heads of Departments, eight (8) supervisory managers, and ninety- four (94) operational staff members. It provides and facilitates the provision of goods and services. The Organization has 30 wards, two of which are urban wards (Murewa Town Board and Macheke) and 28 are rural wards. Murewa Rural District Council is located in 86km from Harare.
The head-office is located at Murewa Growth Point while there is a sub office at Macheke Growth Point. The economy of the district is primarily agrarian with potential for mining especially black granite, gold and tantalite. The district boasts of a rich cultural heritage being home to the world acclaimed Jerusarema Mbende dance and various heritage sites. There is a dearth of skilled and qualified manpower and a well developed transport and communications network.
